Cocktails (humor)

Essential component of all wind-powered vessels.

A sailboat may be operated after losing its rigging, its rudder, its mast, and even its sails, but without cocktails it is a little more than a floating hulk.

Consequently, skippers in the vicinity of any sailing craft lacking cocktails are required, under the law of the sea, to render prompt and timely assistance, although they are permitted to fulfill this obligation with bargain brands and lesser vintages.
