Berth 1) A place where a boat or ship can be secured. 2) A safe, cautious distance, as in to give something a "wide berth." 3) A vessel's place at anchor or at a dock. 4) Seaman's assignment. 5) The place where a person sleeps on a vessel. 6) A sea room to be kept for safety around a vessel, rock, platform, etc., or the place assigned to a vessel when anchored or lying alongside a pier, etc. (IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrase) |
