Glass Sight Bowls On Fuel Pumps (gas Engines)

There are two types of glass bowls. The older type is simply a transparent sediment bowl and "must" always have gas in it. The newer type serves the same function as the stripper tube on the newer fuel pumps. It captures fuel from a leaking fuel pump diaphragm. If fuel is present above the level mark (there is a thin piece of sheet metal installed vertically in the bowl with a level mark on it), the pump should be rebuilt or replaced.
