Hit List (humor)

After every survey, engine surveyors fill out a form called a Hit List, which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the vessel during the survey and sea trial that need repair or correction.

The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form as to what remedial action was taken. The boat buyer reviews the hit lists sheets before purchase.

Never let it be said that boat mechanics lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual logged maintenance and or repair recommendations submitted by surveyors and the solution recorded by yard crews.
