| Racking Two or more structural members working and becoming loose; structural deformation of the transverse section of a ship's hull. A vessel is said to be racked if, when viewed end on, it appears to be leaning or tilting over to one side. Symptoms of racking generally appear at the junction of the frames with the beams and floors. A term common to wooden boat design and construction. |
